The ASM-International
Dayton Chapter is co-sponsoring the Digital Part Manufacturing workshop
organized by SAMPE-Midwest Chapter. The event will take place on March 29 and 30 at
Wright State University. If you wish to attend the workshop, please register by March
22. The link to details regarding the agenda and registration is given below.
Digital Part
Manufacturing (DPM) has been a manufacturing technology of significant interest
in recent years. DPM is the process of going directly from an electronic
digital representation of a part to the final product via additive
manufacturing. DPM offers many benefits including reducing lead times, reducing
or eliminating the need for tooling, and the ability to fabricate parts that
cannot be produced via conventional methods. The goals of the workshop are to
educate the technical community on the topic, to discuss areas requiring new
and/or additional research in design, materials, and manufacturing, and to
discuss how to move DPM from rapid prototyping to rapid manufacturing.
Workshop Highlights:
16 confirmed speakers
coming to discuss their current efforts and their thoughts on future needs in
DPM for Metals, Polymers, and Electronics.
16 confirmed exhibitors
Keynote address:
Leslie Perkins, Micro Air Vehicle Lead, Air Force Research Laboratory Panel
discussion on the materials, manufacturing, design, and education challenges to
implementation of DPM: Panelists include Steve Szaruga of AFRL Kevin
Hartke of Mound Laser & Photonics Center, and Eric Barnes of Northrop
Grumman
